Modality Therapy

The muscles and the skeleton work together so that we can accomplish our daily tasks. It doesn’t take much to upset the system and cause some pain and discomfort. Technology is offering more ways to treat injured muscles and joints. Dr. Erin Seabolt, serving the Texas City, TX area, would like to share types of modality therapy services offered at Texas City Chiropractic Clinic.

Chiropractic Care - Not Just Popping Your Back

Chiropractors are mainly known for taking care of the back and spine, but the truth is that chiropractors treat the entire musculoskeletal system. They are trained to understand how the muscles and bones are all supposed to work together, the most common reasons things go awry, and what to do about that.

Chiropractors can be seen for more than just back injuries. They are an excellent go-to after any impact-style of accident, including injuries to the hip or shoulder.

Modality Therapy

Chiropractors use different methods of applied manual treatments referred to as modalities. Depending on the particular injury being treated, you may benefit from multiple modalities. Modalities offered by Texas City Chiropractic include:

Cryotherapy

Cryotherapy is the use of concentrated cold, as from a cold pack, to help relieve inflammation and swelling of muscles or muscle groups. The cooling also offers pain relief to the area. Cold packs are often applied shortly after an injury occurs so that less inflammation will develop. A physician may switch to hot packs later on to speed blood flow out of an area.

Therapeutic Ultrasound

Therapeutic ultrasound uses high-frequency sound waves to target a specific area. These sound waves induce a heat that reduces inflammation and improves blood flow. This can be used to treat stiffness and spasms in muscles, also relieving pain and improving recovery time.
